* You automatically become a member of SCOI when you join the local association where your cottage is located.
If you are a non-cottager with an interest in the SCOI website, please register as a “Friend of SCOI”
What exactly does this post mean?
It means that cottager owners who are paid up members of their local cottagers’ associations, and thus automatically become members of SCOI, will continue to have access to the Information being posted on the SCOI website. SFN cottage owners who have chosen not to belong to their cottagers’ association will no longer get access to the SCOI posts after June 1st of this year.
Everyone will be able to see the home page on the site but only members will be able to read the material behind the headlines. So if you are a SFN cottage owner and renewed your membership in a your cottager association after January 1st 2021, did pay your dues and did respond to the request for your e-mail and created your own password, you are good to go.
If you have not renewed your membership since January 1st, then you should do so before June 1st if you want to continue to have access to the SCOI website information. And to do that go to the SCOI.ca website. There is a header across the home page that is called member organizations. Click on this and the dropdown menu will list the 4 member organizations that are a part of SCOI (Chief’s Point, South Sauble, French Bay & BlockB). Click on your association name and on their home page you will find a place to register.
We have also created a thing called “Friends of SCOI”. This is for folks who are not SFN cottager owners but who deal with cottagers regularly in a professional way. Local contractors (building, plumbing, electrical, septic etc..) , realtors, security and other service providers and neighbouring municipal officials, most of whom already subscribe to receive notices of new posts on the website. They will need to register and be issued a password, but we value their interest and the the work that they do for SFN cottage owners. There are also a number of Band Councillors and senior Band staff who have been subscribing to the site and we want them to continue to have access.
What Friends of SCOI is not is a way for cottage owners, relatives and friends to gain access without paying membership dues. We will issue only one password for each cottage owner who is a paid member.
I thought the idea was to amalgomate info for the associations on this site. So now you have to be a paid member of another association to access it? I’m missing something.
Please tell us which cottage association you are a member of. At the time of registration, you would have provided an email address and password. Members of any of the cottage associations will have full access to all posts.
We belong to FBBA and have never been given a password to access any information.
You will choose your own password when you register for this year. You may do so here.
I tried my password and it was not accepted. I am a paid up member??
Hi Pat,
I have reset your password. Please check your email for the link to update it.
Member of south Sauble and I know I have forgotten my password already.

I don’t remember providing a password when registering, please advise

if we are already a member do we have to register again or am i still going to be receiving info….have been a member for ages, but i do belong to the site as well/ thx
If you are already a member for 2021, you don’t have to do anything further. Thanks for checking.
I do not understand why we cannot pay a fee directly to the scoi basically if we want information we are under duress to join a local association which we may not wish to be a part of
Rhonda,
The 4 member associations (Chief’s Point, South Sauble, French Bay and Block B) are the original cottage associations. About 40 years ago the Band asked cottagers to create one association so they would not have to deal with four. SCOI was created as an umbrella organization to liaise with the Band on behalf of all SFN cottagers. SCOI is incorporated as an Ontario not for profit organization. The by laws clearly state that members of each of the original 4 associations are automatically members of SCOI. There is no such thing as direct membership in SCOI.
SCOI Board members are appointed or nominated by members of each of the 4 local associations at their Annual General Meetings to ensure that there is fair representation from all SFN cottage areas. So, Rhonda, you must join your local association to belong to SCOI. However, once you join, there is no obligation on your part to participate in events or associate with members of the organization.
Yippee! I actually logged in to my account! Thanks for all the group does to help pass information on to the members, sometimes a thankless job.
When is this years membership due forblock B
It is due any time you wish to register. If you have not done so by June 1, you will be unable to read posts on this website until you do.
It works perfectly. Thanks.
I have just registered for 2021 but can’t find the information for payment…disappeared!
Please tell us what cottage association you have joined and I will connect you with the correct membership coordinator.
My wife and I have been members of FBBA for over 30 years. We have joined, and paid, again this year. Scoi email go to my wife’s account but after asking several times I am still not getting the emails. What do you suggest I do to get on the email list. Thanks.
This is a known limitation in the software the SCOI.ca site uses. At the moment the only known fix is for us to delete your subscription and for you to re-subscribe. Please go ahead and do so at your convenience.
What email do I use to send the etransfer to? The automated email confirming registration says “BlockB Dues” but that is not an email address.
As stated on the registration form, e-transfers should be sent to blockb.dues@gmail.com
I am a member and remembered my password. Yay! I am South Sauble. Is there a different link to get to South Sauble Group or does everything filter through the SCOI site?
Any information pertaining only to South Sauble will be posted on this page. Anything of wider interest will appear on the main page of this site.
Can we start a Facebook page to exchange information for free? I think it would nice to offer this service.
Please feel free to go ahead. There is one started recently by some South Sauble members. It is called “Cottage Friends of SFN #29”.
Josh – here is the link , https://www.facebook.com/groups/294348499081848
I don’t remember or think I did a password.
Please check here.
I’m part of South Sauble and am pretty sure I’m paid up but can’t log in. It doesn’t recognize my email address. Sorry to bother you with this.
It doesn’t look like you’ve registered yet for 2021. You can do that here
Hi how do you register for a block b membership?
Please go here: https://scoi.ca/block-b-membership-form/.
I tried to get into SCOI today with my email address and password but it said I was blocked until June 15th.
I did pay our membership in January 2021 and did register at that time with my email address and password so not sure why I could not get in. When I tried to reregister it said I was already registered. What do I do now.
Melanie & Bob Krupp
At this point there is no restricted access to any portion of the scoi.ca website. Could you tell me what you were attempting to do when you encountered the prompt to log in?
I went into my account and put my email address in and password to just check if I could get into the SCOI site.
We have sent you an email with a link to update your password.
If 2 adults own the same cottage, will both owners have access to this website? We have different email addresses and will have to have separate passwords.
Lana-Lee,
We are sorry but the freeware system we are using for now only allows one e-mail and one password per membership. You and the other owner will have to enter the same e-mail address and password to get into the text of the posts.
