Registration

How do I register?

How do I read posts?

You must be a member of a cottage association.  See above for how to register.
As part of registration you will be asked to provide an email address and a password.

Registered cottagers are asked to enter their email address and password to access posts on this site after June 1, 2022.

When you click on a “Read More”  link you will be asked to log in using the above email address and password.

How do I change my mailing address?

Go to your Account/Profile tab

The information will be used for winter patrol lists (if applicable) and for membership renewal next year.  It is important to keep it up to date.

Can I set up more than 1 login per cottage?

At this time, each cottage address is allowed one login email and password.  If multiple people use the same cottage, they will all have to use that email and password.

How do I subscribe to email updates from scoi.ca?

If you did not opt-in for updates when you registered, you may do so from your Account/Profile page at any time:

How do I manage my account information (address, etc)?

How do I add Winter Patrol?

If you did not include winter patrol at the time of registration, you can add it at any time.

Please go to this page for instructions on managing your scoi.ca account.  From there, click on the “Memberships” heading as shown here.

Logging In

How do I log in?

If you’re not already logged in, the login form is presented when you  access a post on the site.

When you click “Read More” on any post, you will be asked to log in or register.

To do so you use the email address and password that was set up for your cottage at the time of registration.

Common Mistakes when logging in

Typos

e.g. john.smith @gmail.com  — blank space before “@” sign.

e.g. john.smith@gnail.com  — misspelled “gmail”

e.g. john,smith@gmail.com — used a comma between “john” and “smith” rather than a dot

Incomplete email address

e.g. john.smith — forgot “@gmail.com”

e.g. JohnAndMary — not an email address

Incorrect Password

Not Registered

Repeated unsuccessful attempts to log in

 

If you click “Login” 5 times with the wrong email or password, you will be locked out of the site for 6 hours.

Please double check what you’ve typed!

 

I've lost or forgotten my password.

If you’ve forgotten your password click “Lost your password” on the login form. A password reset will be sent to the email address associated with your cottage address.

If you do not belong to a cottage association, please register here.

 

Leases

Can I get a partial refund?

The leases we all signed are with Indigenous Services Canada and they clearly state that there will be no reduction in the rate for any reason. The Chief and the Band cannot reduce the lease amount.

When is my lease payment due?

Your lease payment is due in full by May 31.  After that, interest penalties may be applied by the Band.

Where do I mail my lease payment?

You mail your cheque, payable to “Leasing Revenue Account” to

Saugeen Land Management and Leasing, P.O.Box 640 Southampton ON N0H 2L0.

Comments

Why is my comment not posted?

All comments submitted to scoi.ca are held for moderation.  This is done by volunteers who spend a finite amount of time daily reviewing recent comments.  Be patient.

If your comment does not appear within a few days, it may be for one of the following reasons:

  • someone else made the same comment earlier
  • the comment was deemed irrelevant to the issue at hand.
  • the comment was deemed to be disrespectful or derisive.

14 days after a post is added to the website, commenting will no longer be possible.

Garbage

What items can I recycle?
Why was my garbage not picked up?

Garbage collection during the summer months tends to be somewhat slow because of the volume of garbage the collectors must handle.  To keep this process moving along so the Band can get to everyone’s trash, please sort your garbage correctly.

See above for a list of recycleable materials.

When is Large Item garbage collection this year?

There is no longer any large item collection by the Band.

To dispose of such items, you have 2 choices:

  • Take them to the dump yourself.  You will be charged the regular dump fee.
  • Call the SFN Works Department at…

Policing on SFN

Is Cancom a legitimate police service?

Yes. Cancom officers are federally licensed to enforce federal laws and can issue tickets for violation of SFN bylaws.
