Many cottagers have started to receive their lease renewal invoices. Those invoices present significant increases in the lease rate. For many, the increase comes as a shock. SCOI is not going to try to explain the increase, except to ask you to read your lease, Sections 5 & 6, which outline the appraisal process used and the appeal process, should you choose to exercise that option. Please remember that property values have increased significantly in all parts of Ontario and the lease increase reflects that.

I want to make clear that under the terms of the lease, SCOI has had no input into the appraisal process and the new fees. The appraisal process is an arms length, third party activity. Any action for appeal is also up to the individual cottager.

Please remember that your lease payment is due no later than May 31, 2021 or a penalty is charged.

SCOI recognizes this is a difficult time for all of us. We will get through this and we hope to enjoy many more sunny days at Sauble Beach.
