New Location for Lands Management Offices
Kirk Roote has written to ask that we let you know that the Lands Management offices have moved from the building on Indian Agent Road into the Band’s new Governance Building located at #6 Cameron Drive just behind the former Administration Building.
Contacting Kirk Roote
They are having issues getting their phones moved over and up and running.
However, they will have the same number as previously – 519 797 3039.
If you are having trouble contacting Kirk, he advises that their e-mail accounts have been successfully switched over – kirk.roote@saugeen.org
Hello. Got a question.
When can we go visit our cottage. Has the chief opened it yet. Would like to check on cottage. Insurance reasons for snow load etc.
Gord,
The Band has made no change that would allow cottagers to return to their cottages. We expect to be notified as soon as there is a change and will post it on the scoi.ca website.
I totally understand you wanting to go check on your cottage, this might be a good time to look into paying for the winter surveillance offered through BlockB. I’m glad that I don’t have to worry about my cottage because every 2 weeks it is being checked. There has been occasion that I’ve gotten a call with some concerns very reassuring.
Hi. Would it be possible to find out if we can use our cottage Family Day weekend and March break.
Thank you Jan and Bob
Band administration has indicated there will be no change in the current status at this time. A Family Day weekend visit to the cottage is not an option. It is too soon for a decision about March Break.
The Province is lifting the State Of Emergency for ALL regions on February 16th with the exception of Toronto, Peel and York. There should be no reason why the Band Administration would not follow suit and allow us access to our cottages.
Jeff,
As previously stated, the Band does consider the Province’s actions but also takes advice from the Grey Bruce MOH and, in the past, has considered the Covid situation on the Reserve.
There are lots of reasons why they do not automatically follow the Province’s guidelines to the letter – not unlike the Prince Edward-Hastings MOH recently adding restrictions beyond what the Province requires.
Well, good to know that SFN has had 0 new covid cases since the reported 4 resolved cases from early December, despite cottage use over the Christmas and New Years break. Thats a good thing! The extra Prince Edward Hastings precautions include restricting services such as hair salons and indoor dining to only local residents and/or those not coming from lockdown regions. That’s fair, but it doesn’t say people can’t go to their cottages, which they own,
because the SOE lifts the ban on travel if I’m not mistaken.
Hopefully the Grey Bruce CMO can appreciate that he can’t restrict people from their rightful properties indefinitely. I can bring my own groceries to my cottage for a few days….
Also, March Break has been postponed until April 12th I believe..
Would like to know if the new facilities for Land Management will be equipped to receive electronic payment for our lease payment due May 1, 2021.
Thanks
The Band is investigating this possibility.
We may own our cottage but we all lease the land. And the band has full control over the land. We will pass on any information when we have it, as always. We do not expect any changes before February 16 at the very earliest.
