Sneak Peak
Since we can’t be there to see our favourite scenes yet this year, we thought you might enjoy a photo tour!
Brian Death, French Bay Beach Association Treasurer, generously walked the length of the beach from The Red Road Restaurant to the south of French Bay Beach on Friday, May 8, 2020, taking photos to give everyone an overview of the shoreline at present.
These are broken into 3 groups, below.
Enjoy!
(Brian is married to a Band member and is therefore permitted to be at his cottage. )
WOW! Thank you Brian and Scoi for the look at our summer home! (May to October in the olden days!). Stay safe. “We’ll meet again”
Seeing a snapshot of the beach is just what I needed – warm thanks for this kind gesture!!
Thanks Brian …. for the sneak peak.
More beach than I thought there would be.
Nancy and I are looking forward to some quiet walks along the water.
Thanks Brian for these and all you do !!
Scary how little beach is left Thanks for the pictures
It’s not quite as nice as being there but it helps! We are hoping that we will be able to enjoy it in person sometime this summer.
I’m trying to locate where these pics were shot. Where is the Red Road Restaurant? (Doesn’t seem to have a website).
The Red Road was a restaurant one block south of Main St on 1st Ave but it has been closed for 3 years.
Thank you Brian. That’s the vista I am missing. I really appreciate all that scoi is doing to make our community viable and successful in these difficult times.
Thank you, thank you, just what I needed to see!
Thank you so much for this! Beautiful photos. I’m sure we will all have a renewed appreciation for the unique privilege of being allowed to share in the beauty of this area when we can finally come back there. In the meantime, be well.
Thank you Brian Stay safe .Looking forward to seeing you sometime this summer .
Now that Premier Ford has announced that campgrounds can open this weekend, I would hope that our ban will be lifted by the Chief by the weekend. It would be unreasonable that weekenders can camp in Grey Bruce and area but we cannot go to our cottages!
Alan,
Only Provincial and some private campgrounds are opening. National Parks and Conservation Authority campgrounds are still closed. Saugeen First Nation campgrounds are closed.
The SFN State of Emergency is still in effect and cottage owners who go to their cottage this weekend will be fined $500 and evicted. The Chief has said that the Band may let cottagers return in June but we know this will be predicated upon the Covid19 stats for Grey Bruce remaining low.
Our hope is that all the other cottage owners in neighbouring municipalities also stay home or strictly adhere to the distancing and isolation guidelines . Otherwise the Grey Bruce Covid19 numbers may start to take off and our return to Sauble will be delayed even further.
Can someone explain why low numbers in Bruce County is the key? If those of us from away are in a hot zone is that not still a problem unless people follow the social distancing guidelines? The virus will continue to be a threat until there is a vaccine, and that isn’t happening by June. We will be lucky if a vaccinated population is a reality by June 2021. So, what are the criterion that will be used? There is no phasing in access to cottages, and unless people agree to protect the community no time will be a safe time. It only takes one….. how can we expect to control that, here, there, or anywhere?
I just want to understand the rationale, the necessary conditions for a decision to open up, the likelihood of any cottage time this summer, and the adjustment to lease payments and service fees that will be made.
Could those questions be asked please?
