SCOI is deeply appreciative of our relationship with Saugeen First Nation, Chief Lester Anoquot and Band staff. There have been ongoing conversations on many issues occurring over the last few months. As part of our continuing dialogue, SCOI has received several clear and unequivocal messages from Chief Anoquot today.
- In regard to lease payments, cottagers with Band-owned lots may pay the same lease fee as last year before the due date of May 31 and the remainder to be paid at a later date, which will be set by the Band Council.
Cottagers with Locatee-Owned lots must pay the full lease amount by May 31.
- current access restrictions to cottages, Chief Anoquot says they will be removed effective May 1 with everyone asked to continue to take all public health measures, which include wearing a mask where applicable, washing hands and keeping safe distance.
This does not mean you can leave your primary residence and go to your cottage or back and forth from your home to your cottage. Nothing with respect to the provincial stay-at-home order restrictions has been changed. The intent of this decision is to help those cottagers who have to move out of local rented accommodations on May 1.
Again, we thank Chief Anoquot and Band staff for helpful and fruitful conversations. We look forward to the summer with hope.
